Yan Yu Villa, a silent village in the Southern East of China. I came here to look for a person named Master Xiao. I have no friends, no families, and I don't know anyone in this villa. Just a vague memory of my past and a name of a person I need to find.
It took me 2 weeks to find this villa - considering the chaos in the surrounding outskirts where people kill others for money, some for fame, and some for fun. I remember gawking at a broken carriage which delayed the coach I was riding from Suzhou city. The body of the Shaolin who escorts the carriage was beaten almost to death. It was a good thing the passing beggar gave him water to drink. I just hope he survives and avoid the invitation of death.
Speaking of dying, I decided to enter the villa because staying longer outside will make me an easy target for mischievous people. At least that's what my instincts tell me.
As I enter the town, I saw a Royal Guard carrying a black sack running as fast as he can. Another kidnapper being followed by the villa guards. I feel sorry for the victim. I heard the knock out powder that was developed today is kind of strong. It flows through your veins and shutting down the nerves to completely paralyze you. I wonder how it feels like being paralyzed by that kind of powder.
I decided to move on and avoid meddling with what is happening around me, especially, if it means fighting. Aside from strong awareness with my surroundings, the only talent I have is running. I always run when it seems I cannot avoid to fight. As much as possible, I don't want to fight because I don't know how.
As I pass the bridge after the village entrance, I see a lot of people at the plaza. It seems a market here so my worries of getting into fights and running subsided for a little. I just hope trouble won't come as i pass the plaza. As I try to look at the different people around me, I feel more like nothing. I began to realize how small I am. Someone who dreams to be a practitioner of martial arts. Someone who wants to put an end with unreasonable killing and chaos in the nearby outskirts. Someone who can fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. Big dreams for someone like me - a weak and frightened commoner who runs away from a fight.
I stood in a plaza until I noticed a sudden commotion which attracted everyone's attention. I was shocked as everyone when I see what this commotion is all about.
